Job Description Summary * IMPORTANT NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST be currently enrolled at ULV and have a FEDERAL WORK STUDY award to be eligible for this position. * Under the guidance of the Armory External Relations team, the Communications assistant supports our team with day-to-day media production, graphic design, photography, and PR tasks at Armory Center for the Arts.

Specific Duties The Communications Assistant will report directly to the Senior Communications Manager and will assist with tasks such as:
- Designing print marketing materials (postcards, flyers, social media posts, etc.) using Canva and/or Adobe software
- Documenting/editing/formatting short videos and photos to promote our education and exhibition programs on social media & website
- Social Listening for the Armory's social media platforms (commenting, liking, sharing, etc.)
- Proofreading class descriptions, newsletters, and other content for print and digital materials
- Add and update Armory events on event listing sites
- Update website banner/slideshow images
- Potentially create video reels to assist in telling the Armory story, highlighting our programs and community services
- Potentially create captions and content for Armory social media posts and reels
- Potentially organize physical documents and files while onsite
- We also work with students to tailor the work-study experience to integrate what they would like to work on and learn with what projects we need to be completed.
Minimum Qualifications The ideal candidate is a student whose focus is photography, film/video, media design, graphic design, visual arts, marketing, or other communications-related fields. Candidates should have experience with some or all of these:
- Be proficient Adobe applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Be proficient in G-Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Calendar, Slides, etc.)
- Have strong proofreading skills
- Have good design instincts or willing to learn with feedback
- Have photography and photo editing skills
- Have strong video skills (pre-production, production, post-production)
- Be proficient in Mac OS
- Follow instructions and ask thoughtful questions
- Have a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn
- Meet deadlines and manage time efficiently
- Must be ULV Student
Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with Canva
- Comfort with social media platforms (Instagram, Linkedin, Facebook, and X)
- Have excellent verbal, written, and listening skills
- Basic HTML skills and experience a plus
- Strong writing skills
Benefits Summary Employees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
