Job Description

Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy Washington

USD 200,000 - 250,000

About Crux Energy demand is rising for the first time in decades and project development and manufacturing are booming in the United States. Energy and manufacturing tax credits are the policy tool for companies building critical projects, components, and materials. And for the first time, these credits are transferable – creating a powerful new market mechanism to fund clean energy projects. Crux is the central platform for this new large market. Approximately $26B of credits have been listed on Crux and more than $22B of bids have been placed on the platform this year. Market activity on Crux informs the most comprehensive data set on this new market. Our team of 30 is composed of experts in energy, financial markets, government, marketplace, and workflow software. Crux has raised ~$27M in capital from some of the best investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Lowercarbon Capital, New System Ventures, Overture, Ardent Venture Partners, QED, Canapi, and others. The Opportunity This is a unique opportunity to be on the ground floor of a new market as the founding member of Crux’s policy function. What you’ll do: Establish and lead Crux’s public policy and government relations function to support the company’s mission and strategic goals. Develop and implement a comprehensive policy strategy across all relevant governmental stakeholders and involving all areas of Crux’s business. Build coalitions within the industry, collaborating with key stakeholders who share Crux’s objectives. Efficiently hire and manage external policy resources, including consultants and affiliations, to aid in the advancement of Crux's policy priorities. Work cross-functionally across all aspects of the business to understand and identify legislative, regulatory, and policy risks and opportunities to the business and execute strategies to manage those risks and capitalize on potential opportunities. Prepare various policy materials for internal and external use with stakeholders, including position statements, reports, updates, briefing packages, and talking points. Participate in public-facing events, market briefings, and media opportunities as a clear and effective advocate for Crux’s policy goals. What you have and what you’ve done: Minimum 12 years of experience in federal policy. Deep and collaborative network with Congress, Capital Hill staff, Executive Branch officials, including committees of jurisdiction and federal regulators responsible for tax, energy, finance, and technology issues. Experience working in some combination of Capitol Hill, the Executive Branch and/or in house for an energy company. Experience working for Republican member(s) of Congress and/or in the executive branch during a Republican administration is a plus. Significant knowledge and understanding of federal legislative and regulatory processes, legislative and executive policymaking processes, and policy developments impacting the renewable energy industry. Deep understanding of the federal and state incentives available for renewable energy and manufacturing, including tax credits and transferability. A track record of success in coalition building and collaboration, as well as the demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with legislators, regulators, agencies, and other government leaders. Track record building and moving a clean energy policy agenda that is successfully adopted. Strong supporter of the clean energy and manufacturing tax credits, transferability, and policies aligned with Crux’s mission and goals, and deep knowledge of and experience working on such issues. An effective communicator with excellent verbal, written, and listening skills. This is a remote position for someone based in the Washington DC area. Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications in addition to equity and benefits. We are flexible on the compensation package for the right candidate. #J-18808-Ljbffr Buscojobs
