Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction:

    • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging math lessons for students across grade levels (Elementary/Intermediate/High School), ensuring alignment with state and national math standards.
    • Employ a variety of teaching strategies and tools (including technology and hands-on activities) to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with different learning styles and abilities.
    • Encourage critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning in students.
    • Provide additional support and enrichment opportunities for students who may require extra assistance or advanced challenges.
  • Curriculum and Assessment:

    • Develop and implement a rigorous math curriculum that aligns with school standards and fosters a deep understanding of core mathematical concepts.
    • Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
    • Use data from assessments to adjust instructional strategies and interventions to ensure student success.
  • Classroom Management:

    • Create and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and student engagement.
    • Implement effective classroom management techniques to minimize disruptions and maximize student learning time.
  • Collaboration and Professional Development:

    • Work collaboratively with other educators and staff to plan interdisciplinary lessons and activities.
    • Participate in school-wide initiatives, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and support student learning.
    • Maintain open communication with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress and behavior.
  • Student Support:

    • Provide individualized or small group instruction as needed to help students who are struggling with specific mathematical concepts.
    • Assist in creating and maintaining an inclusive environment that supports students with diverse needs, including those with learning disabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field (required).
    • Teaching certification (required) or eligibility for certification in the appropriate subject area.
    • Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience:

    • Previous teaching experience in mathematics at the high school level (preferred).
    • Experience with differentiated instruction and using data to inform teaching practices (preferred).
    • Familiarity with using educational technology and tools (such as interactive whiteboards, math software, and learning management systems).
  • Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of math content and pedagogical techniques for effective teaching.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student growth.
    • A passion for teaching and helping students succeed academically and personally.

Working Conditions:

  • Part-time position, flexible hours (12-20 hours per week, up to a 4 hour shift, 10am-2pm).
  • Work schedule aligned with school hours.
