Job Summary

The Speech/Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating and treating speech/language and swallowing disorders. Speech/language services are available to patients in the acute care hospital, swingbed, outpatient basis, home health agency, nursing home, and outreach contractual services. Time will be split between Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital and Avera Gregory Hospital as needed. The Speech/Language Pathologist’s goal is helping patients reach his/her maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities. Performs all duties and responsibilities in such a way as to demonstrate and support the hospital's Catholic and Benedictine heritage and Avera co-sponsorship values of hospitality, compassion and stewardship. Provides care/service in accordance with regulatory and accrediting agencies standards and Catholic Religious Directives.

Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s degree required.
  • Previous work experience as a Speech Language Pathologist is desirable.
  • New graduates welcome to apply.
  • 1-2 Years experience preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech & Hearing Association (ASHA) in speech/language pathology or presently active in a supervised clinical fellowship year and certification received within one year of employment is required.
  • Licensed by the States of Nebraska and South Dakota as a Speech Language Pathologist. May hold a SD provisional Speech Language Pathologist license for 1-2 years while undergoing their supervised clinical practicum under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist.
  • BLS Certification within 60 days of hire.

Work Schedule

  • Day Shifts, 8:00am-5:00pm; 80 hours every 2 weeks
  • with occasional weekend, holiday, and on-call involvement

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $32.25 - $45.75 per hour
