Job Overview
The Jackson County Health Department (JCHD) is accepting applications for a full-time or part-time Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP). Position includes providing child and adult examinations, screenings, and treatments for patients seeking care at the JCHD. This position will also assist the JCHD’s harm reduction program’s clients with strategies to reduce the risks of overdose from opiates and disease transmission from blood-borne pathogens. These strategies include Naloxone distribution, Vivitrol administration, education, and more. Data collection and entry, collaboration with specific groups in the community, monitoring inventory supply, and conducting grant-related duties for JCHD grants such as the Maternal and Child Health and Reproductive Health grants are also required duties.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and obtain vital signs for patients.
  • Perform diagnostic evaluations and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Manage airway management procedures when necessary.
  • Administer venipuncture and other necessary procedures, including spinal taps.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Stay informed about workers' compensation law as it pertains to patient care.
  • Utilize the Epic electronic health record system for documentation and patient management.
  • Provide basic life support as needed and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
  • Participate in telehealth consultations, offering remote care to patients.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited program.
  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice.
  • Experience working in a Local Public Health Department is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in performing vital signs assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Knowledge of grant management and budgeting is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Benefits:

The starting wage will be $40.00-$56.00 per hour based on experience. Employment with the Jackson County Health Department includes pro-rated paid vacation leave and sick leave as well as travel re-imbursement; full-time employment with the JCHD offers health, dental, and vision insurance benefits, as well.
